FAQ

How do I get a price?

If it is a rough price you are looking for we would recommend you take approximate measurements of the width/ height of the area you want mirrored (or photos always help for any shaped areas). Information taken can be given over the telephone 0800 7408163 or sent via email. Aaran Glass can then get back to you with a guideline price. If you want to proceed then we would arrange for a glazier to come out and do a site visit to take precise measurements before any glass is cut to size.

How do you fit the mirror to the wall?

A popular installation method for mirrors is to fit them to your wall with the use of commercial mirror adhesive as this avoids the need for any screws and drilled holes within the mirror. However we are able to fit mirrors with screws if this is your preferred method of installation. That being said commercial mirror adhesive is only advisable if you do not intend on taking the mirror down in the near future as the only way to remove this is by smashing the mirror off in small pieces to take dispose of.

Another popular is method is fitting the mirrors within an anodised Channel around the outer edges. This avoid the need for sticking the mirrors directly to your wall causing less damage in the long run and gives a nice sleek finished look.

What thickness does the mirror come in?

Silver mirror comes in two thicknesses; 4mm and 6mm. 6mm mirror is stronger than 4mm mirror so therefore is more robust so is more commonly used in commercial properties.

Do you do different finishes of mirror?

As standard we supply and install 4mm and 6mm silver mirror – this is your most common mirror. There other mirror finishes you can get including tinted mirror including bronze and grey as well as antique mirror. Please note antique mirrors comes in a variety of finishes but is very expensive, so make sure to take this into account when choosing your finish.

What is safety backing?

Safety backing is a mirror backing used to strengthen glass and helps to keep the glass in tact if it were to break. It prevents moisture entrapment to keep your mirror from de-laminating.

What is foil backing?

Foil backing helps protect against moisture and it is recommended in areas of high condensation. Foil backing is used for protecting the silvering of the mirror from moisture and salt deterioration. It adheres well to most surfaces.

What is the difference between a polished edge and a bevelled edge?

Polished edges are standard where the edges of the mirror are exposed and are not in a frame. A polished edge makes the glass safe to touch as well as giving it a beautiful translucent finish. A bevelled edge refers to the edge of the mirror being cut at a specific angle and size giving it a framed like stylish finish. A standard bevelled edge is commonly 25mm but custom bevelled edges can be arranged.

What is I have a socket in the way of where I want a mirror?

We can do cut outs within the mirror for switches, sockets, light fixtures and more.
