GYM MIRROR INSTALLATION FOR THE WORKPLACE
THE IMPORTANCE OF MIRRORS IN YOUR GYM
Mirrors are an essential feature in any gym — not just for aesthetics, but for safety and performance. They allow you to monitor your form in real time, helping to improve technique and reduce the risk of injury caused by poor posture or incorrect movement. Mirrors also enhance spatial awareness, making busy gym environments safer by helping users avoid collisions and accidents.
Accidents can happen, and sometimes mirrors get damaged — whether it’s from a dropped weight or general wear and tear. At Aaran Glass, we provide a professional gym mirror supply and installation service, available both during and outside of standard working hours. Our experienced team ensures minimal disruption to your gym or fitness facility, carrying out replacements or new installations at a time and date that suits you.
THE BENEFITS OF LARGE GYM MIRRORS
Installing large gym mirrors offers a wide range of practical and aesthetic benefits for both home and commercial gyms. Here are just a few key advantages:
1. Mirrors Add Natural Light
Whether you choose full wall coverage or a partial installation, mirrors are a fantastic way to enhance natural light in your gym. They reflect both sunlight and artificial lighting, instantly brightening the room and making even smaller spaces feel larger and more inviting.
2. Mirrors Motivate the User
Gym mirrors allow you to see your movements in real time, helping you maintain proper form and alignment throughout your workout. Being able to watch your progress can also boost motivation and confidence, encouraging you to push further and train more effectively.
3. Mirrors Make Your Gym a Safer Space
In busy gyms, mirrors improve spatial awareness and help prevent accidents around heavy equipment. They allow users and trainers to keep an eye on their surroundings, reducing the risk of collisions and injuries in crowded workout areas.
HOW TO FIT LARGE GYM MIRRORS TO A WALL
THE 3 MAIN TYPES OF MIRROR FITTINGS FOR LARGE MIRRORS
When it comes to installing large gym mirrors, there are several fitting methods available depending on your wall type, style preference, and how permanent you’d like the installation to be. Below are the three main options we recommend at Aaran Glass:
1. Gym Mirrors Fitted with Commercial Mirror Adhesive
For a seamless, professional finish, our most popular installation method involves using commercial-grade mirror adhesive. Before fitting, mirrors are foil-backed for added safety and protection against moisture. This method is suitable for plasterboard, brick, or stud walls and creates a clean, frameless appearance.
Do note that this is a permanent installation — once the mirrors are fixed, removing them would likely require breaking the glass, which may cause some wall damage.
2. Gym Mirrors Fitted in a Channel (U Channel System)
If you’re unsure about keeping your mirrors in the same place long-term or want to avoid potential wall damage, a U channel fitting system is an excellent choice. This method creates a modern, stylish finish, as the mirror sits neatly within slim metal channels that are screwed directly into the wall. The result is a secure installation that can be easily adjusted or removed in the future, with minimal impact on the wall surface.
3. Gym Mirrors Fixed with Screws
For extra security — particularly in high-traffic gym environments or on tiled walls — mirrors can be fixed with screws. Each corner is secured and finished with a decorative end cap, providing a subtle and polished appearance. This method ensures durability and stability while maintaining a neat aesthetic.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get a price?
We would reccommend you take approximate measurements of the width/ height of the area you want to fit mirrors to (or photos are always help for any shaped areas). The information taken can be given over the telephone on 0800 7408163 or sent via email info@aaranglass.co.uk. Aaran Glass can then get back to you with a guideline price. If you want to proceed then we would arrange for a glazier to come out and do a site visit to take precise measurements before any glass is cut to size.
How do you fit the mirror to the wall?
A popular method for installing large mirrors is by using commercial mirror adhesive, which eliminates the need for screws or drilled holes in the glass. This approach creates a clean, seamless appearance and is ideal for spaces where a modern, frameless finish is desired. However, it’s important to note that this is a permanent installation — if you ever decide to remove the mirror, it can only be taken down by breaking it into pieces, which may cause damage to the wall.
If you prefer a less permanent option, mirrors can also be fitted using screws, offering a secure and practical solution that still provides a neat finish.
Another increasingly popular method is installing mirrors within an anodised aluminium channel that runs along the outer edges. This fitting style avoids sticking the mirror directly to your wall, helping to reduce potential wall damage while giving the installation a sleek, professional look.
What thickness does the mirror come in?
Silver mirrors are available in two standard thicknesses: 4mm and 6mm. While both options offer excellent reflection quality, 6mm mirrors are stronger and more durable than 4mm, making them the preferred choice for commercial gyms and high-traffic environments. The 4mm mirror option, on the other hand, is ideal for domestic installations where the mirrors are less likely to experience impact or heavy use.
Do you do different finishes of mirror?
As standard, we supply and install 4mm and 6mm silver mirrors, which are the most commonly used mirrors for both domestic and commercial installations. In addition to silver mirrors, there are several other mirror finishes available, including tinted mirrors in shades such as bronze and grey, as well as antique mirrors.
It’s worth noting that antique mirrors come in a variety of unique finishes and can add a distinctive, decorative touch to your space. However, they tend to be significantly more expensive than standard silver or tinted mirrors, so it’s important to consider your budget when choosing your preferred finish.
What is safety backing?
Mirror safety backing is a protective layer applied to the back of mirrors to strengthen the glass and help keep it intact in the event of breakage. It also prevents moisture from becoming trapped, reducing the risk of delamination and extending the lifespan of your mirror.
What is foil backing?
Mirror foil backing is designed to protect mirrors from moisture, making it especially recommended for areas with high condensation, such as bathrooms or gyms. It safeguards the silvering of the mirror from moisture and salt-related deterioration, helping to extend the mirror’s lifespan. Foil backing adheres well to most surfaces and is commonly used in combination with commercial mirror adhesive when installing mirrors directly onto walls.
What is the difference between a polished edge and a bevelled edge?
Polished edges are the standard finish for mirrors with exposed edges that are not contained within a frame. Polishing the edges makes the glass safe to touch while giving it a smooth, translucent, and refined appearance.
A bevelled edge, on the other hand, is created by cutting the mirror’s edge at a specific angle and width, producing a framed, stylish finish. The most common bevelled edge is 25mm, but custom sizes can be arranged to suit your design preferences and space requirements.
What is I have a socket in the way of where I want a mirror?
Aaran Glass can create precise waterjet cut-outs in your mirrors to accommodate switches, sockets, light fixtures, and other fittings, ensuring a seamless, custom installation.

The process for ordering custom mirrors with Aaran Glass is straightforward:
